don’t slow down.

This week has been a very eventful one my internship is really shifting into gear so here is a little run down on what the past week has held.

Monday- Thursday:

Was spent mostly in preparation for Friday, Saturday and the rest of the summer. The creative arts department spent these days preparing crafts practicing puppet shows for the kids and thinking up second ideas for our second show. We also thought up our crafts and searched around/ordered supplies for the summer.

Friday:

The Big Red Bus returned to the town we had visited the previous week, Carrick on Shannon, and participated in the parade celebrating 400 years of township. During the parade we walked/danced in front of the bus and handed out tracks along the parade route. Then, after we parked by the river and did another drop in. We had a few people drop by and had some good conversations particularly with one family that stopped by. The family had traveled the world and along the way had adopted various bits and pieces of different religions. Joanna got to talk with the mother about the concepts of works and guilt and certainty in salvation as well as share her testimony.   Laina, a fellow creative art’s intern, and I got to play some games and chat with the kids about their beliefs and also present the gospel to them. All in all it was a interesting evening.

Saturday:

We spent Saturday doing a kids program for a Church retreat. This meant romping around the grounds of an old manor house playing games, doing puppet shows and crafts. All the kids were great and it was a really fun day.

Sunday:

We attended a small church in the heart of Roscommon town called Grace. Afterward we attended the fellowship lunch (potluck), did our weekly shopping and went on a walk in a nearby national park. We spent the evening planning our outing to Dublin ie booking beds in a hostel, arranging lifts and figuring out busses.

Monday:

Monday was bank holiday so essentially everything was closed but we did go to a Brazilian Barbecue with the creative arts team at our supervisor’s house. Man was it good! Then the creative arts interns got a lift to Athlone and hopped a bus for some adventure time in Dublin for our day off on Tuesday. We arrived got set up at the hostel and then found some live traditional Irish music and food.

Tuesday (today):

We woke up early, had breakfast/smuggled lunch out of the hostel and spent the day running around Dublin. We hit some cool shops and sites and even took in some Shakespeare in the park performed by students from Trinity College.

I might also mention these events have been made even pleasanter by the miraculously warm and sunny weather we’ve been having. Praise God!

The past few days have been full and exciting. I love that things are really kicking into gear. The rest of this week we have prep for summer and a two day puppet workshop at a school and things just escalate from there!

-Love and thanks,

Emily
